Another Covid-19 affected weekend. It makes things tough, but it is more than us as Individuals being put out of our usual routines. Personally, I believe our Country is doing the right thing which in turn filters down (in our case) through the NZRU to the WRFU and consequently to our Clubs. But it is every Sport, Pass-time or other activity that is usual for us to do in a Group of any kind, including socialising. Yes, times appear tough, but our
Grandparents and Parents (in some cases) had worse adversities in their time. I guess the main difference is that this is an invisible enemy with dire consequences if not brought under control.
However, this last weekend we did have Rugby played. The Premier Reserve had a more than one-sided Game against the Petone White Team that turned up. That aside, the result put our Reserve side back into the Top 4 on the Ladder – the place they deserve to be. Three more Games to go and then into semi-finals and finals. Our Boys will be there.
The Premiers had the Axemen visit The Fortress. Not one of the Axemen’s better days, but put our Boys firmly back on track to be in the Top 4. We are reliant on a couple of scores going our way, and I know it is a bit perilous to count on others, but it is what it is. After this weekend we are in 5th spot, only 7 points from the top. Not a lot in it, hence my belief we can get in the Top 4.
