Another great weekend for Rugby. Bitterly cold with the odd bit of Tawa sunshine, but once again a very good crowd watching the games.
Our Colts had another “non event”. The opposition turned up with 13 Players forcing another Game On situation. My understanding is that it became a 10 aside, then a forfeit of the Game. I have always believed that if you have a loss, you have “work ons”, but how do you keep young Fellas
involved if you cant even get a game? Hopefully our Boys can get the right feeling to take on the Competition Leaders this weekend. It will be a test, but from what I have seen of our Colts, they are up for it.
After some tough weeks, our Premier Reserve got back into winning stride. Except for one loss, the Reserves have picked up Bonus points all the way through and their points differential at +201 is the third best on the Ladder. The Reserves are currently at 6th on the Ladder, but even
with a tough draw this weekend, I do believe they will end in a top four on their Ladder.
Now a lot of our Supporters will have noticed that we have brand new Goal Posts this year. The question is – were they placed in exactly the same position as the Athletic Park posts? I am certain they have been placed a metre deeper with the result being that Thomas George would have scored if
they were indeed a metre less.
The Premiers had an interesting game to say the least. I reckon the first 40 minutes were probably spent getting the blood circulating throughout the body. The Premiers are at 5th on the Table with an away game against MSP this weekend. Looking at the previous scores by both Teams
over the previous 8 Rounds, gives no indication as to which way this game could go. But based on the history of our Clubs, it could well be a great game not to be missed.
It was an Honour for me to present the two Captains with the Arthur Carmen Trophy we have both played for since 1952, so as to have a formal handover.
