Who would have thought the Hurricanes could do that? Ron told me at around 1630hrs that the
Canes would beat the Crusaders. I thought, well it is possible, but the Canes are down in Christchurch and the Crusaders have defended their Fortress for 4 years. Ron was right, but not his first prediction in the last couple of weeks. But the game itself was riveting from start to finish. It almost seems that the Scoreboard (from the Canes perspective) is irrelevant and not even taken as serious until the 80th minute. There is a belief in the Team that “we can do this”, and
it seems to be paying off – even to the great relief of the Supporters.
Our Colts had a good win on the weekend at Lyndhurst against Norths after being down 17-0 at half
time. I caught up with a fine bunch of young Men with their Coach, Tony King, at the Clubrooms.
They were in fine spirit despite watching the Premiers on a couple of phones due to a technical issue
with the TV.
You could not get a closer score than the Premier Reserve vs Norths, but a loss was recorded. Our
Boys as a result have slipped to 6th on the Table. Believe me, this will be short lived as the Reserves
fight back.
The Premiers had a tough day. A game of chances taken, but not converted to points. The weekend
puts our Boys at 3rd on the Table, but this will change in an upward direction.
As part of my new role with the WRFU, I was at ParePlim for their Old Timers Day. What a turnout!!
They sure have had a makeover with their Clubrooms. Some pretty innovative ideas with Sponsors,
Photos and various notices etc. A pleasure to be there.
