Weekly Newsletter

Hi ,
Another week has gone by with the Hurricanes starting to find form, despite the number 1 Hooker being out. Julian Savea keeps getting stronger in every game. This week, Ardie will be back, but with the way our Loosies are going, what a quandary for Mark Hammet. The guy I think is benefitting from Super 15 Rugby is without a doubt, Victor Vito. It seems Victor is no longer overwhelmed and living in the shadow of others. But quite frankly, the whole Team is playing as a Team. They are playing for each other.

Now all we have to do is get our Boys to follow suit. Having attended a number of training sessions (at the fence of course), I see this message getting through to our guys from the coaching staff. There is no doubt that the intensity is on another level, brought about by the last season's achievements across all grades. The players have a belief in themselves which over the years has sometimes been lacking - NOT this year!!

We had some more pre-season games with Palmerston North Marist on Saturday. It is always great to have a visit from an out of town team. I guess both teams and management come away with a very good insight into the respective competitions.

Look out for your copy of the Kapi Mana News this week. There is a very good interview with Dion Waller (our CCO) and Steve So'oialo the Premier Coach. We show off for the first time our new major sponsor's name on our jersey, along with our major sponsor from last season.

For those interested in other Kiwi matters, Fabian Coulthard won two of the support sprint races at Melbourne, with our other Kiwi, Shane van Gisbergen winning the Saturday sprint in the rain. The V8's are racing in support of the first Formula One race for the season in Melbourne. It should be a great season for Formula 1 and the Kiwis in the V8 Supercars.

Remember to support all of our Sponsors, especially New World Tawa and Porirua Auto Crash. These Sponsors believe in our Club and help lighten the financial load - in turn we should have them "top-of-mind".

TWO WEEKS TO GO!!
