Well, it's all getting a bit repetitious in a positive way for some, as our Hurricanes kicked the weekend off with another important away win v the Reds, leapfrogging them up to fourth on the ladder. A Reds supporter was complaining about a forward pass leading to a Hurricanes try, so I asked him to take closer look at Tate McDermott's try just after half time. Fortunately neither affected the result nor the entertainment factor.

To Lyndhurst Park for the Colts v MSP. They were down 5-10 early in the first quarter, but the boys shifted gear and started to dominate up front and were rewarded with some well worked tries, including a spectacular solo effort by #15 Jonty Baker. Jonty's proud Gran and girlfriend were jubilant when he scored a second half try next to the posts, contributing to a solid 59-27 score line.

The Premier 2s v MSP @ Redwood Park put a back-to-back solid 80 minute performance together with a 33-28 scoreline. According to Zac, it was an ''awesome'' game, tightly contested by quality teams, and the team with the best manager won!

Back to Lyndhurst Park, the home of Tawa rugby for the Premiers v MSP. Although the MSP pack looked big and intimidating including our ex Prem prop 'Big Man Dan', Mussy and Pataia had done their homework on these guys and the tactic seemed to be speed the game up, move the ball wide, and run them off their feet. Our boys redeemed themselves from last week's result with a solid performance, resulting in the 58-22 scoreline. MSP's big boys were walking with hands on hips in the final quarter while our boys were still running strong, so fitness isn't an issue (must still be doing 'Hemi Mullas').

Unfortunately the Mighty Ducks were humbled by the Axemen 34-36 at Newlands Park, renamed Pukehuia Park for those of us that weren't aware. The Axemen must've been a quality team to beat our boys and the loss could prove a positive, given that the pressure to stay unbeaten is off and they still sit top of the ladder.

Jonnys' Reserves got back on track at Redwood Park after a BYE last week. They had a good result over Upper Hutt Rams 'Thirstys', scoring 39-15 in the Mike Copeland Cup, giving them three wins from six - a fair and realistic result by a new team rebuilding from the disbanded Pressies and prodigal Reserves combined.

Faraimo Nofoaiga played his 100th Premier match last Saturday. He has played for both Tawa and Norths in his career and brought up the milestone in a big win over Marist St Pats. Congratulations Faraimo!

Finally, it was great to see another full clubhouse two weeks in a row for the after match. I'm starting think it's because the word got out about Tony T's curried saussies. They are seriously good and his chill con carne is top notch as well!

We have our last of three successive home matches v the Norths this week before we travel to Hataitai Park v the Axemen for the Murray and Alan Mexted Cup. So let's get down to Lyndhurst and support our boys instead of watching streamed home games at the Clockwork. ;)

COLTS REPORT

Tawa vs MSP, 24.05.25

After a tight first half and being down 19-20, and some rather stern words from the coaches... We had a complete turnaround in the second half, running in 40 points to eventually win 59-27. We scored nine tries and the kickers had a good day off the tee, landing seven conversions.

Stand-out performances from Jarred Kuresa, Vati Valu, Aloali'i Fa'aita, and Max Tofts. A great forward effort and good old-fashioned hard work ended up paying dividends and has now put us second on the table to Upper Hutt - who haven’t lost a game and we meet them in our last game of the round at home.

Lastly, big ups to and not forgetting Aloali’is conversion, giving all goal kicking forwards hope.
