Greetings all.

The weekend got off to great start with a win at the Cake Tin over Jamie Joseph's well coached and very competitive Highlanders. In typical fashion, the Landers took the game to us right from the whistle and the first try to Jonah Lowe was a power play and signaled the intent. After a tense 78 mins and 17-20 down, we were almost ready to concede and say fair play Landers, but hold all bets... For those who dared to bet on the Canes and stayed in their seats, my man of the match Cam Roigard scored the match winner to keep our long-suffering supporters' hopes alive and move us to fifth on the ladder.

To Lyndhurst Park, where our fifth place Premier 2s hosted fourth placed HOBM in another Harper Lock Shield round. Our boys came away with a hard fought 35-31 win after trading point for point for 80 mins against a very determined HOBM.

Our eighth place Premiers got off to a flyer, with a well executed attack down the left wing finished off by 'Jet Shoes' Jacob Denyer. The team showed glimpses of last week's excellent performance, but were unable to sustain it against the strong fourth place HOBM for the full 80. However it has to be said that having the last say with a well-earned try was satisfying.

Our Colts' 33-27 win over Pōneke in the Tank Paris Cup competition moves them to second, and a great result for the boys beating Pōneke at Kilbirnie. After back to back wins, this is a good confidence builder for young Premiers in waiting.

The mighty Ducks are first place on 33 points, with six from six and only two to play in the JC Bowl. Second place Johnsonville Terrahawks on 25 seem the only real threat to their glory and fame. To be unbeaten and top of the table, these boys are pretty handy footy players. Add to that their team spirit, led by coach George and #15 Spud Quacker, and you've got a champion team in the making... I won't be surprised to see D. Duck or a T. Mallard slipped in on the team sheet at some stage.

After mixed results out on the field, it was great to see the clubhouse full with our opposition and their supporters. A big thank you needs to be said to Charlotte and her team behind the bar and in the kitchen providing great service and good food for the multitudes.

The room was still full for Banksy's official presentation to Lotu's 100th game and to both Matolu Petaia and Rewiti Katene-Leat's 30 match blazer game. These are significant achievements not easily achieved, and great to see an appreciative audience for your service to our mighty little club on Lyndhurst Road. Thank you.

The next generation of Rogers at nursery grade rugby on Sunday afternoon

Another home game at Lyndhurst and Redwood for our Premiers and Premier 2s this Saturday v MSP. Colts v MSP are also at Lyndhurst Park, Ducks v The Axemen at Pukehuia Park, and Reserve Grade v UH at Redwood Park.

PREMIER 2 REPORT

Tawa vs HOBM, 17.05.25

The Tawa Premier 2s fought hard against Hutt Old Boys Marist and opened up the scoring with a converted try to Chester Aiono in the 1st five minutes. HOBM were good on defense and were rewarded with two quick tries of their own to take a slender lead. Tawa responded with another three converted tries and looked set to take out a comfortable win when up 35-12 in the second half. HOBM fought back and just fell short in the end, going down 35-31.

Forwards and backs had very strong runs against a very big Hobm pack with the difference being the boot of Daniel Baker who slotted 5 from 5.

Next week will be another battle v MSP, so here we go again.
