Hi ,
Greetings all,
Firstly congratulations to HOBM for winning the Jubilee Cup and Paremata-Plimmerton who won three club finals on Saturday - and if my memory serves me (which according to my
wife is not always the case), the women’s success earlier would make it four for the season.
A commendable result.
Although the results didn’t exactly go our way, we do need to remember
that for the second consecutive year four of our teams made it to the big dance with three of them in their respective division ONE finals.
A massive achievement which reflects not just on the players, but obviously also the coaches, management, and all the ‘back office’ volunteers that assist week in week out to make it
happen on the field. There are too many to mention but you know who you are.
Then let’s not forget our supporters who sometimes travel great distances to support our club around the Wellington region in what can be trying overhead conditions at times.
A big thank you and congratulations to you all.
Onto Saturday. Well, we couldn’t have asked for a better day, although having a power cut in Paremata which necessitated travelling earlier than planned to my daughter in law's in Hataitai for my daily caffeine
intake wasn’t initially on the schedule!
Kilbirnie Park and Evans Bay were all in good condition for the games which were very well attended by the supporters of all the clubs that participated. Trying to get a car park and then watch three games at the same time when you're not the height of Chris Burgess meant that you either did
a lot of walking or for the tech savvy watched two games while tuning into Tawa Rugby Live for the third!
Memo to self. Bring a step ladder next time!
Premier 2s started the day off against
Pare-Plim at Evans Bay at 11.45am! A pulsating first half saw the teams level at the break but although our team kept trying to the end Pare-Plim just had too much in the tank and overran us at the end.
