Hi ,
Thank you Fonz for filling in while I have been away for the last two weeks.
I heard the CEO of Super Rugby talking on the radio during the weekend. It’s great to hear that crowds and TV ratings have
mirrored the closeness of matches so far this season. This hasn’t helped the Canes, who have only won one out of four and sit bottom of the table - albeit they have only lost by an average of seven points. Still, a loss is a loss.
Personally I’ve enjoyed watching the Drua and Moana play. The crowd support they are receiving, especially at home, is just great TV theatre. Also
the lack of interference by the TMO, who now only come in when foul play is concerned, has allowed the game to flow and leaves the ref to actually make decisions!
This is a
wake-up call for all concerned, and a reminder that although we want everyone to enjoy themselves in our clubrooms, it is equally important that we all behave in a responsible manner when alcohol is involved.
Back to rugby matters, the draw for the first round is now available on the WRFU website. Our Premiers (2.45pm) and Premier Reserves (1.00pm) are
playing OBU at Rugby League Park in the first game on Saturday 5 April 2025. Refer to the link for the draw: https://www.wrfu.co.nz/senior/draws-results
Pre-season matches start this
Saturday when we take on Norths at Mana College commencing at 11.00am. Players need to be at Mana College by 10.00am.
