Hi ,
Welcome everyone.
What a great start to the rugby season, even allowing for the mighty Canes being upset by the sheep shaggers. The highlight for me was that every match was competitive and justified the removal of
the Rebels from the competition and spreading that player resource across the other four Australian clubs. Albeit our friends down south still decided to look outside our borders again and bring James O’Connor across.
You had to feel for the Landers and Moana, both being beaten in the final play of their respective games - but it made for great entertainment.
The Canes v Drua match this week in Napier will be interesting to see how both teams bounce back from a loss. I’m sure Drua forward coach Chris Gibbs will be highly motivated for the match, being a former Magpie player and Hurricanes coach.
After just following my nose last week with my
Fantasy team, I ended up with 191 points against an average of 161 across the competition, so a solid start. Not gloating mind you, as my wife got 196!

The annual Walk for Mental Health will be taking place this year on Sunday
2 March at 1.00pm, at Hikoikoi Reserve, Petone and William Jones Park, Wainuiomata. It is an initiative led by WRFU's Mental Health Committee and aims to promote community wellness, build awareness around mental health, foster a sense of unity among different rugby clubs, and raise funds for Youthline Wellington. Participants will come together in two locations for a 3km walk, completing 10 laps of a rugby field or up and down the Petone Esplanade. See you there!
