Paul was also a founding member and player of the Tawa Toads Golden Oldies rugby team, where his passion for the game continued well beyond his playing prime. He further extended his influence beyond Tawa, serving as a coach and manager for Wellington Rugby Football Union (WRFU) age-grade teams and holding a term as Vice President of WRFU. His presence was felt throughout the Wellington rugby scene, where he was widely respected and
admired.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life of service, camaraderie, and dedication to the sport and the community he loved. Paul George McEnaney was more than just a rugby man—he was a pillar of TRFC, a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will live on. Paul can deservedly be termed a True Legend of this Club, and his contributions will continue to shape the future of TRFC for generations to come.
To Paul’s family, friends, and all who knew him, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you during this time.
A memorial will be held at the Rugby Club in January 2025 to farewell Paul. Details to come closer to the time.
Rest in peace, Paul. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
