Junior Spotlight - Year 0/1 Rippa - Harcourts Hurricanes
 

Chiefs v Hurricanes Semi-Final, Saturday 15 June

Last Saturday, the Tawa RFC “Harcourts Hurricanes” 0/1 Rippa team had the privilege of playing the curtain raiser at Sky Stadium against Stokes Valley.

We were clearly a crowd favourite – with many of the supporters in the stands yelling “Go Tawa!!” – even the Chiefs contingent!!

After their Rippa game, the Tawa team formed the “guard of honour” outside the player’s tunnel, as both the Hurricanes and Chiefs players ran on to the field to start the main match. The kids were absolutely in awe as these professional rugby players ran past them, giving the kids high fives along the way.

I am super proud of our little team!! The team have really developed and progressed over the season and the game at the stadium was their best to date! We are really getting an understanding of how the game works and we absolutely have some future NZ Rugby Reps in our team. Hopefully this is the first of many times our boys and girls get the opportunity to play at Sky Stadium – hopefully in black (and yellow) in the years to come.

Thanks to Sawyer's Mum, Micheale, for being our official ‘on field’ photographer! Also, a very special mention to the other Junior Tawa players and their supporters who were in the stands supporting our little team. Was so cool to see the Tawa colours in the crowd!! Thanks to the parents of our players. We have a very cool little community in the Harcourts Hurricanes – hopefully we can stick together and continue to develop as a junior rugby team over the years!
