I took the opportunity to chat with Petaia, our Colts coach about the Bye for his Colts team. He maintained that Colts players only went away for the weekend because there was no game. Had there have been a game, there would have been a full complement of Colts boys wanting to play. To my mind this is a strange rule
brought about by the Board of Delegates of which some seem to want to treat the Colts as children, not young men.
I will seek some feedback from the U85s as well after their Bye. I could be wrong, but I am sure the guys just want to play rugby!
This weekend, we
have four of our teams travelling over the hill to Wainuiomata. The Wainui boys will know their place on the Premier table and the fact we are two above them. Our boys need to keep the “pedal to the metal” to ensure our movement up the table. The P2s are in a different situation, with nothing but a good win to keep them going.
The Colts are playing at Mary Crowther Park at
12.30pm. It's usually heavy going at this park, but without substantial rain (at time of writing), it should be okay.
The Ducks will no doubt be in formation as they cross the harbour for their match against Eastbourne, to continue on their winning way.

Spotlight - Year 6 Tackle (sponsored by Auto Super Shoppe Tawa)
Last Sunday, we headed to Ngati Toa domain to play in the annual Kings Birthday tournament. Our 7s team consisted of Archer Fruean, Asher Maisuria, Caleb Mallon, Deniro Strickland, Jax Mason, Mason Te Maari, Noah Lowe, Rainen Johnston, and Vasa Vea.
First up game was against a very well drilled Norths team. Our boys knew we had to stay strong and that we did, coming away with the win 3 - 0. Second game was against Pare-Plim, where our kids just kept up with the strong defence and attack, taking the win 5 - 0. Third game was Stokes Valley - this game proved to be our most physical with some big tackles, but our boys stood up to the challenge and took the win 6 - 0. The fourth game was the
last pool play game against Pōneke. We won 8 - 0.
Making the semi finals, we came up against Pōneke again, taking an 8 - 0 win. For the final, we came up against Norths for the second year in a row, with the game proving to be as tough as we thought it would, with the Norths upping their defence. This unfortunately resulted in them taking a 2 - 1 win.
Having gone all the way to the finals, keeping every team scoreless and a total of 30 tries scored from our team throughout the day, shows how strong our defence and attack was. However the result of the final, we are immensely proud of the boys and how they carried themselves throughout the day, making their coaches Hayden and Parry and manager Kim extremely proud!
Thank you to the parents and Tawa Rugby Club for making this possible with all the support we receive to enter our team. And thanks to Paremata-Plimmerton Rugby Club on a well-run tournament!
