Hi ,

Bit quiet on a number of sporting fronts - no Supercars or IndyCars, but a heap of Rugby.

First of all, a huge thanks to those who were able to help with the Club Working Bee on Saturday. There were about 25/30 people turned up to do the majority of the work scheduled. The remote shed was cleaned out - I guess the rats won't know what struck them! A bit of overdue work was done in the BBQ shed.  All in all a very good effort, with Trees sorted as well under the watchful eye of Graeme Allnut (hope you had the Hi-Viz on Graeme). These type events at the Club are great for the Club, but show an allegiance from our Members, Supporters and tireless Committee, to show some pride in the Red, Blue, and Gold. 

Well done to those able to turn out.

Round 5 of Super Rugby saw further domination of the NZ Teams in the competition, starting with the Crusaders 35-17 over the Brumbies, then the Chiefs 24-14 over te Waratahs. The Highlanders are starting to show some form with a 57-24 drubbing of Fijian Drua (the Team that beat Crusaders in Round 3 [for those who may have forgotten]). Our Hurricanes dished out a serious message to all Contenders,cleaning out the Moana Pasifika 59-zip. Saturday night then played out with a couple of Ozzie Teams. Sunday saw the Blues continue the Ozzie beatup 30-17 vs the Force.

This weekend the 'Canes play at Palmerston North on Sunday. Great idea taking the game to the Provinces. 

Also this weekend, the start of our Club Rugby Competition - at last! Our UNBEATEN Premier 2 Team plays OBU at 1300hrs on Rugby League Park, followed by our Premiers vs OBU at 1445hrs at the same venue. Parking close to the venue is hopeless, however, if you are not familiar with the ground, here is a helpful hint. Drive into the old Showgrounds building just off John St and head South in the driveway as if to Te Whaea artificial sporstfield, then walk over the Rugby League Park. An alternative is to drive down Hall St and instead of turning left, go straight ahead and end up in virtually the same parking area as noted above. If all else fails, Amy and Jun and the Team will have it LIVE on YouTube under Tawa Rugby Live.

I am out of town for the first two games, but rest assured I shall be watching. Best wishes to our Teams as we get the Season underway. By the way, there is a heap of motor-racing on this weekend coming. I am sure you cant wait for my next week report.
