It is with great pleasure that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tony on his induction as a life member of our rugby club. This recognition is a testament to Tony's outstanding contribution to TRFC and the sport of rugby over the years.

Tony's rugby journey with TRFC began in 1963 when he joined the club at the tender age of 5. Despite being small for his age, he was determined to play for the Bantoms and even had to put weights in his pockets at the weigh-in to make the grade. Nicknamed "squirt," Tony's determination and passion for rugby were evident even at that young age.

After a break from TRFC, Tony returned in 1977, having played for the successful Tawa College 1st XV in 1975/76. He went on to play for the U.19 team that played the curtain-raiser to the ABs vs. Lions at Athletic Park, a match that Tawa won 12-4 against Rongatai College, the only other unbeaten team in the U.19 1st division.

Tony made his debut for our senior team in 1979 and was also part of the second team's promotion to J.1s in 1980. As per the tradition of our club, players move up and down between the two top teams to achieve the best outcome for the club, and Tony continued to play competitive rugby through the '80s.

He was a member of the 1987 Murray Mexted-led Senior team that was promoted to Senior 1st for the first time in the club's history. After that, Tony played out the rest of his rugby career with the Tawa Presys, maintaining his commitment and passion for the sport.

Tony's contribution to TRFC extends beyond his on-field exploits. He served as Club Captain from 1995-97 and was President from 2005-06. He continues to support the club to this day, offering discounted electrical prices.

Once again, congratulations Tony on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your years of dedication, service, and commitment to TRFC. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hope you continue to be a part of our rugby community.
