Club Notice

Hi ,

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Sam Doyle after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Sam was assigned to our Club when he played in Wellington for the Hurricanes. Sam Doyle
came into the Hurricanes side in 1996 and was a replacement player and played in two
matches at fullback against the Highlanders and the Reds in place of Christian Cullen, scoring a try in the 44-15 win against the Highlanders. Sam is Hurricane #11.

Doyle played for Wellington between 1994-1997, and ended up playing 30 games for
Wellington, scoring 64 points.

An exciting utility back- halfback-first five-eighth, Doyle could play anywhere in the backline
and as recently as 2011 he was still playing senior rugby for the Rahui club in Levin.

Sam Doyle, was a gifted fullback for Manawatu, Wellington and New Zealand Maori (against
the 1993 British and Irish Lions).

Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Sam’s Whanau, Friends and those fortunate
to have played with, or been Coached by Sam- Kia kaha.
