2022, the year of our 75^th Anniversary, the Club having formed in 1947. A great get together over the Matariki weekend, held in our Clubrooms. After the effects of Covid, I reckon many people just wanted to go somewhere and where better than the old Club for its many Members; being Players, ex Players, Volunteers, Supporters etc. 

The Premiers season was once again “from behind” having been at 6^th position at the end of the Competition proper, then in typical Tawa style, advancing to a semi-final spot against Petone. And what a game that was – leading for a better part of the Game, with Petone coming through in the 82^nd or so minute. I guess the days of training for an 80 minute game is in the past, as we see so many games at all levels go well over 80 minutes. Makes for exciting Rugby, risk taking and generally great results. 

The Premier Two’s had another unbeaten season, with the closest result being a draw with OBU. Not sure what happened there, but the next game against OBU was a hiding by our boys. Again, it was my privilege to place the medals around the shoulders of our boys on behalf of the WRFU, after they won a tough game against Norths out at an atrocious field in Fraser Park. Not really fit for play at this level. Our boys once again took away the Ed Chaney Cup and the Harper Lock Shield.

Our Colts finished 6^th in their competition with a loss in the semi-final to Paremata-Plimmerton after an interesting season whereby they had a few “Game On” plays, when other Clubs could not front with 15 Players. That aside, the culture was strong. Bodes well for the future.

Our Reserve side were in the playoffs for the Allan Seerup Trophy, missing out for a final placing. As usual, the Camaraderie within this Team is legendary.

The Prezzies continued their tradition of good Rugby with the focus of the “Aftermatch” being a vital make up of the Game. Still reasonable numbers, but the first games to be dropped if the weather or other issues come up. 

As usual, I would like to acknowledge the tireless work your Committee puts into ensuring our Club functions at a top level.

Finally, I would like to thank all our Coaches, Managers, Support People, Volunteers and Supporters for their input to our Clubs continued success.
