Hi ,

For those who braved the weather, we were to witness one hell of a Game at The Fortress. Our unbeaten Premier 2's hosted Poneke, who seemed as though they were going to destroy the record. What a game! A number of times we bounced around the scoreboard with the lead swapping several times, to the non- amusement of Supporters. I think a number of us were pleased we had taken our pills that morning - some moments of heart stopping action on the field. 10/15 minutes from the end, our Boys found their "mojo" and did the bizzo! About 5 minutes out after the Boys scored their second to last try, I looked down on the field and suggested to Paul Mac, that I think I saw a slight smile on Coach Thomas's face. Naturally after the Game, we had to confirm with the Coach that it was possible, but of course by then he was really smiling and you could not contain Zac or Coops with their elation at the result. The Boys certainly were given a nudge, but in true form, fronted up. A great win, now on to the Final against Norths at Fraser Park.

Our Colts had a narrow loss to Paremata-Plimmerton, meaning they would not get a Final spot. However, I am advised that we had a few Boys out on Rep duty - well done Boys!

Our Reserves played Western Suburbs on the weekend and now play Upper Hutt J8s in the Semi Final for the Allan Seerup Trophy.

So who got up at 0300hrs for the AB Game? No-one I know of, and all for the same reason - we did not believe we would see a win, so recording was the way to go. I think that may be a first for me. What a lack lustre performance. I do feel for Fozzies Family and friends, but as Uffindell is finding out, the Media can be worse Bullies than the one you think you are. That said, I do think there will be change, and it has to be quick. Not a long time until the World Cup. Some of the old Work Horses are not up to it and some of the younger Guys have not been blooded properly. Hell of a place to wear a Black Jersey when you are a "Newbie"!

Talking about "heart stopping", the IndyCar race from the Grand Prix of Nashville (home of Country Music - Oh Yeah!), was a race to behold. More prangs than All Black tackles of late! Scott MacLaughlin had Pole for the Race and Scott Dixon was in 14th position after a disastrous qualifying. By lap 30, (of the 80 lap Race), MacLaughlin was in 4th position Dixon in 20th position after both enduring Pit Stops etc. 4 Laps to go, under Safety Car, Dixon 1st, MacLaughlin 2nd. The Safety Car leaves the track and Dixon holds off MacLaughlin for a One, Two Kiwi finish. Does not get much better than that. Dixon now 2nd in most IndyCar wins of all time and now 2nd in Championship points.
